Our Story
The Women's Club of Portage proudly stands as a pillar of rich and distinguished history, having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022. Founded in 1947 by a vigorous group of accomplished, civic-minded women, the Club was established in the home of Mrs. Louise Varner to promote educational and philanthropic community service while offering members invaluable opportunities for personal growth, leadership, and social engagement.
Over the years, the Women's Club has earned numerous accolades, showcasing an impressive record of achievements. Our members have actively supported healthy lifestyles both locally and globally, spearheaded impactful community development and beautification projects, encouraged civic pride and engagement in special events, and successfully raised funds for a wide range of community and global organizations.
Today, by fostering friendship and camaraderie through monthly social, educational, and business meetings, our members continue to uphold the core values and beliefs established by our founders. Through the Women's Club of Portage, these principles will continue to enrich our community for future generations, inspiring innovative ways to give back to our town.
